Ohio passed a law in 2022 requiring financial literacy instruction as a condition of high school graduation, with the class of 2026 being the first to require the course. The course is half a credit and covers income, taxes, banking, budgeting, saving, credit, insurance, and investing. Private and charter school students are not subject to the requirement.
Ohio schools are now in active curriculum implementation. The Crescara//Project offers Ohio schools a complete, technology-driven financial literacy curriculum that covers every topic Ohio's standards require and builds real financial habits through the Consequence Engine and live brokerage simulations.
HB 96 sets the minimum. A checklist of topics is not a curriculum. The Crescara//Project sequences Ohio's required content areas in the order students will actually encounter them in life, connects them to each other, and builds habits through repetition, not review sheets.
You can't teach investing without first teaching budgeting. You can't teach credit without first teaching income. The sequence is the curriculum.
Ohio schools that connect now will be ahead of the requirement. Reach out at info@crescaraproject.org.
